  8.                                      OVERVIEW
  9.  
  10.      PC-KAT is a DB-SHARE program software product. Please help us distribute 
  11.      PC-KAT by sharing unmodified  copies of the PC-KAT basic system 
  12.      diskette. The PC-KAT system also includes a PC-KAT add-on, by purchase, 
  13.      diskette. Copying for others of the PC-KAT add-on diskette is prohibited 
  14.      by Copyright law.

  16.      If you find PC-KAT useful, we encourage you to register your copy. 
  17.      Registration costs $27.50 and provides these benefits:

  19.       ->PC-KAT add-on programs (KATOPT?? programs), see below.

  21.       ->Latest PC-KAT basic system provided if a later version # exists.

  23.       ->Right to buy future PC-KAT add-ons w/latest version for $15 each

  30.      If registered or not, to report PC-KAT bugs, documentation errors, or 
  31.      suggest improvements, fill out the PC-KAT Software Problem Report, plus 
  32.      any print screen of the problem. You can print this form by typing: 
  33.      KAT -P and pressing ENTER.

  35.      Register by mail. Use the order form below. You can create a copy of 
  36.      this form by typing: KAT -O and pressing ENTER. Minnesota orders add 
  37.      sales tax. Quantity discounts available for corp., classroom or group

  40.      The next subsection covers, among other topics, forthcoming features in 
  41.      PC-KAT add-on, by purchase, software modules. The base, free, PC-KAT 
  42.      software intends to be enhanced too. One eventual planned enhancement 
  43.      will be to improve KATLOOK so that same spelled filenames will be 
  44.      displayed in inverse chronological order without having to choose output 
  45.      file option and to run KATSORT at DOS level.

  47.      You can get a free version of PC-KAT from friends or local user groups, 
  48.      which have received or ordered their own version, or you can order 
  49.      direct from Applied Foresight. If you don't want to register but just 
  50.      want the latest or a newer version of the PC-KAT base system diskette, 
  51.      you can order direct for $12.50 from Applied Foresight. The $12.50 will 
  52.      entitle you to:

  54.      ->The latest version of the PC-KAT base system diskette;
  55.      
  56.      ->Mailing notifications of update releases as well as other forthcoming 
  57.        DB-SHARE products.  
  58.      
  59.      ->$12.50 discount coupon applicable against the cost of any future PC-KAT 
  60.        registration enrollment.  
  61.      
  62.        SAVE !! Get your order in before April 1, 1986, and along with 
  63.        everything else, you'll receive a $15 discount coupon instead of a 
  64.        $12.50 discount coupon.

  66.      PC-KAT's source code can be purchased separately for $12.50.  A copy of 
  67.      the basic system source files in C & Assembler (some public domain code 
  68.      by Jim Rauser is included). The password checking subroutine is not 
  69.      provided with the purchase and the source code for DB-VISTA database 
  70.      calls must be purchased from Raima Corp., 12201 SE Tenth St., Bellevue, 
  71.      WA  98005.

  73.      Applied Foresight reserves the right to adjust these prices in the
  74.      future.

  76.      If you already have a PC-KAT version, specify what version you have. If 
  77.      you already have the most recent version, although you will still get 
  78.      the latest version of PC-KAT existing at the time of your order, in 
  79.      addition, you'll get at no extra charge, the next release of the PC-KAT 
  80.      base system diskette.

  82.                                REGISTRATION BENEFITS
  83.      
  84.      After June 1, 1986 add-on, by purchase, program(s) will be available.  
  85.      These programs will be identified by the spelling KATOPT??.EXE. All then 
  86.      existing KATOPT*.EXE program(s) will be shipped for a given order. Those 
  87.      users who have registered prior to May 1, 1986, will receive a free & 
  88.      new release copy (their original order provides them with the other 
  89.      benefits of registration). Orders placed after May 1, 1986 will receive 
  90.      the new release with add-on program(s) when it is ready to ship.

  92.      You must submit your name as you want it to appear everytime the 
  93.      software is ran against your database, as the registered program(s) are 
  94.      individualized with this name. Illegally giving a friend a copy, will 
  95.      embed your name permanently into his database, which he'll see everytime 
  96.      he runs PC-KAT. You must provide your first & last name. Multiple-copy 
  97.      license purchasers excluded from this requirement.

  99.      1986 plans for PC-KAT add-on programs include the following features.  
  100.      Any add-on program diskette released will be a cumulative release.  
  101.      
  102.      ->print a report of diskettes with nothing but 2nd generation or older 
  103.        filenames on them; -in other words, 'an aging analysis' report which 
  104.        prints scratch disk canditates.  
  105.      
  106.      ->print a report of those filenames which are the most current for that 
  107.        specific filename; -in other words, a disk reconstruction report aid 
  108.        telling you what is and where are your most recent backed up files.  
  109.      
  110.      ->automatically register the fact if diskette being cataloged is a DOS 
  111.        backup diskette and to automatically register the BACKUP sequence 
  112.        number, which DOS carries in the BACKUPID.@@@ file.  
  113.      
  114.      ->Provide a report which most users write in and request. If you want 
  115.        something enhanced or added to PC-KAT, write in your suggestion.  
  116.      
  117.      PLEASE ALLOW 6-10 weeks for your order to be processed. Your check will 
  118.      not be cashed until the two week period your processed order is shipped.
